We’re excited to announce that Microsoft have awarded us Gold Cloud Competency.
This award recognises our commitment, accreditation and experience with Microsoft Azure, the Microsoft cloud platform. We’ve held two Gold competencies for a number of years covering our core product focus - Data Platform and Data Analytics. Achieving Gold Cloud Competency reflects our increased Azure focus on helping customers’ land new solutions and modernising existing workloads with Azure. Using Azure solutions, we’ve helped our customers to benefit from shorter delivery timeframes, flexible commercial models and scalable solutions.
Running SQL on Azure
We help customers run SQL Server on Azure through both Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS). Cloud solutions require some upfront “plumbing”, regardless of application or workload. This “plumbing” includes critical infrastructure components such as network connectivity, authentication and storage design. It doesn’t matter how scalable, performant or elegant the database solution, if users can’t connect or login – the solution doesn’t work. We’ve invested in building cloud capability in our delivery teams so we can design and deliver robust and scalable database solutions, using the latest Azure technology.
Cloud optimisation
In addition to helping customers understand the technical capability, limitations and considerations for deploying new Azure solutions, customers are increasingly asking for our help in optimising cloud solutions. This often involves both technical and commercial optimisation, including transferring licenses from on-premise to cloud environments, tuning workload and profiling consumption. One of the biggest barriers to cloud adoption is commercial uncertainty and we help customers size their estate and select the optimal commercial vehicle to run their applications. Understanding and modelling consumption in project to migrate to the cloud is critical to ensuring the spend rate is on-track and aligned with project progress.
